May, May, May, May part 3

Oh, how we like to pack so much crap into May.  So much crap.  It's good crap and we happily do it.

Memorial Day sent us over to the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Park in Oakland.  We toured the museum and wandered around the shipyards a little bit.  We learned a lot about our area during WWII.

As we got closer to the museum Lorien said "Mom, I goofed.  It's been a while but I did it again.  I left the house without any shoes."  Sure enough, she was barefoot.  We had to pull into a Target in Richmond to buy her some shoes.  I found the most embarrassing shoes I could...she thought they were cool.  Jokes on her!

After the museum, we went to a place called the Red Onion.  Will has been craving a serious burger since he wrestled Nationals in April.  We got this recommendation from a waitress at another restaurant.  We took the place over, all seven of us.  The burgers were really good but seeing our big family squashed in the little restaurant was the best part of the whole thing.

Colter won a citizenship award at school.  Every month a student is awarded a citizenship award based on that month's theme: Respect, Helpfulness, etc.  At the end of the school year students who embodied all of the characteristics are awarded.  Colter won one of those awards!  He is having a great year!

Because I love making May as busy as possible, we also threw a Plants VS Zombies birthday party for Colter.  He invited some friends, I made some games, and the party went off without a hitch.  Except for it being a party of 6 and 7 year-olds which is a pretty big hitch by itself.  Kids are wild.

Lorien helped me paint these awesome face cut out things.  They were a big hit.  Did I mention Will was out of town for work during all of this May-hem?  I sure was thankful for Lorien's help!

Adell's class has been practicing a Fairy Tales play.  She got the part of Cinderella and kicked butt!

Also, our amazing dress up box supplied the costumes for a whole pile of characters: the queen's dress, Rapunzel's dress, Cinderella's dress, Jack and the Giant, and another princess character I don't have a picture of.  I was almost as proud of all of my homemade costumes up on stage as I was seeing Adell preform...almost as proud.

That's a wrap!
