I had no idea our school ever did this tradition before Lorien was a Senior. Apparently, my kids have sat outside their classrooms every year on the second to last day of school and watched the Seniors who attended Greenbrook as little kids parade by in their caps and gowns? How have my kids never told me about this?
I raced over to Greenbrook for the third time today to see Lorien walk the halls of the school where she went to 4th and 5th grade. I didn't see Lorien in the pack of Seniors waiting to go through the gates and I didn't see her in the line as they passed me inside the gates. So I assumed she didn't want to go walk the halls. I could understand why: she had only been at Greenbrook for two years and because we moved her up a grade, she was never in class at Greenbrook with any of the kids who are Seniors now. I decided to go find Adell and let her know Lorien probably wasn't going to be walking by. Right as I was telling Adell that news, Lorien rounded the corner! Walking right behind the other girl with pink hair I had seen earlier but somehow missed Lorien?
Adell was pumped to see Lorien and Adell's friends were impressed that Adell had a sister who is a Senior! After walking the halls we met in the quad for the Seniors to announce where they were going after graduation.
Lorien's fourth-grade teacher has moved and her fifth-grade teacher has retired. So she wasn't going to be in any class group pictures and she didn't have a teacher she wanted to say hi to. Then we remembered that Adell's current third-grade teacher, Mrs. Moffitt, was doing her student teaching in Lorien's fifth-grade class way back when! So Lorien and Mrs. Moffitt got a picture together. We love Mrs. Moffitt! She has been an excellent teacher for Adell and she was a loving student teacher for Lorien. Win-win!
