Georgia is something else guys. So far, I've had about a million opportunities to be uncomfortable. It started with the 11 hour time change. Then we had to jump through a 5-hour hoop to try and get Will registered for the tournament (even though he had already registered online and been approved). We got into our hotel, The Cruise Hotel, shaped like a ship but our room was in the little outbuilding next door. Our hotel had wifi but it didn't reach to our little outbuilding. I had to go into the hotel lobby (or better yet-the pool) to get wifi. It was harder to check in with the family, facebook, or check the news. Then there was the smell: cigarette smoke, car exhaust, and body odor were the three dominant smells. California has managed to eradicate two of those three smells... Finally, wrestling...I love a wrestler but I do not love all wrestlers. Wrestling is a close, sweaty, weird sport. Dudes wear revealing clothes and not enough underwear. Speaking of underwear, dudes are also happy to strip down to their underwear in front of every and anyone. Wrestling tournaments are always interesting but a wrestling tournament with fully grown (and maybe too old) dudes dips past interesting and into overwhelming real quick.
Here is a picture of the Steven King bathroom in the Sports Palace. We really spent the first few days in the sports palace or the hotel, it was all overwhelming, all the time.
The buildings were interesting and made us ask more questions than gave us answers.
We did get a little peep in on Georgian traditions in the opening ceremony.
After three overwhelming days, I needed a french fry hug. Thankfully, there was a McDonald's right next to the Sports Palace. I could get free wifi and french fries. It was heaven. I love McDonald's and always will.
