I don't have any pictures of church...which is a bummer. We drove about an hour north west to church Sunday afternoon. Mom's tiny branch only has about 30 people in it and it covers from her house in Maine all the way to Vermont. It is also very close to the Vermont/Canada border. So we got to start in Maine, drive through New Hampshire and over into Vermont. We agreed, the biggest difference between the states were the kind of cars we saw in driveways. Vermont had a lot of Subarus.
Church was interesting! The kids loved it, for sure. The branch rents space from another congregation, the Methodist I think. The building was old an cool. The chapel was full of old wooden pews and stained glass windows. It was beautiful and so different from our traditional Mormon chapels. We met the missionaries as we walked in and Will found out one Elder was from the same area of Medicine Lake, Montana that Will was a very little kid in. It was a funny, small world thing.
We also met up with a girl who I grew up with in Keazer Falls, Maine. Her parents and mine were close friends. It was too fun to see her and catch up for a second. I wish I had taken a picture!
My mom realized she left Oliver's medicine and food at home after sacrament meeting. So she and I drove back with Oliver to get the stuff and left Will and the kids to experience the rest of church. The kids loved primary. They sang a few songs and did some coloring. Colter and Adell thought it was fun and easy! They want to go to my mom's branch all the time. Lorien, Wyatt and Clare also thought the older classes were cool, tiny but cool. It is interesting to see how the church is run in different areas of the country. They make it work!
It took us a little bit longer to get back to the church building after we got Oliver's medicine. Will and the kids kind of had to hang out on their own for a bit. Thankfully, church is right in town and they were able to cross the street to a pizza place for a little treat while they waited.
