A day in Idaho...

Well, we had the kids attend one full week of school...and then we pulled them out for a week.  We NEVER, EVER, EVER skip school.  Our kids only miss if they are sick.  We figured a once in a life time event like a solar eclipse was reason enough.

As the day of departure drew closer, Lorien decided she didn't want to miss that much school.  She is taking some difficult classes and junior year is stressful anyway.  So..we let her stay home alone.  Uncle David and Aunt Angela kept in touch with her.  Our neighbors and friends, the Wrights, who live up the street came over to visit her.  The Wrights are moving to Alaska a couple of days after Labor day.  They have already had their house and furniture packed up.  So we opened our house to them so they could sit on a couch every once in a while.  In the end, Lorien wasn't home alone that much.

We drove out to Idaho all day Saturday.  We left good and early and made it to Grandma Judy's house just after dinner time.  We visited with the Aunt Emily and Uncle Kenny and their kids as well as Grandma Judy and Grandpa Dan.  We hadn't seen Emily and her kids for a year or more and now they have a baby boy, Hayden.

Sunday we went to church with Grandma Judy.  Then we headed down to Pocatello to visit with Will's dad, Grandpa Clay.  Our family hasn't seen Grandpa Clay for a couple of years.  We were all happy to see him and his house.

Grandpa Clay collects coins.  He has a very cool collection and it feels like visiting a pirate when he pulls out his coins.  The kids had a blast checking out the different coins.  Grandpa Clay gifted each kid with a few old coins.  It was awesome.
