Oh, we had a wild time getting home from Iceland. Our flight was grounded in Iceland for about an hour. Then we sat on the tarmac in Boston for almost an hour. We only had three hours between our international flight to Iceland and our domestic flight from Boston to San Francisco. We had to get our luggage, go through customs, and make it all the way across the airport from International to Domestic terminals in three hours and we had already spent two of the hours on tarmacs. We busted our butts...but we got to the ticket counter two minutes late. It wouldn't have mattered if we were two minutes earlier since our bodies could have made the flight but our luggage wouldn't have. So, we got a night in Boston on our trip too! We went to Santarpio's in East Boston for dinner and got a good night's rest before heading to the airport good and early the next day.
Wyatt and Emma found out the sex of their baby. They are having a boy and have decided to name him Oliver.
We took the kids to a fun dinner at a little Italian place in downtown Danville.
We got our annual last summer hurrah trip to Rock n Jump right before school started.
School started on the insanely early date of AUGUST 10th!!! All the kids made it to school on time. Mixed feeling for all. Some excitement, plenty of nervousness, a little sadness, and a little joy.
We were going to go out to Idaho to see Wyatt and Emma as a whole family over Labor Day weekend. Then we found out Grandma Judy (our free hotel in Preston) was moving to Washington in August. So we moved our weekend trip up to the weekend after school started. Clare and Adell decided to hang back because they didn't want to miss school on Friday. So we left with Colter Friday afternoon.
Unfortunately, Wyatt was having a hard time and ended up having to go to the hospital the week before we left. He was transferred to a hospital up in Rexburg. So when we got to Utah, instead of driving up to Preston we drove WAY up to Rexburg to see Wyatt there. We got to see him twice and check out the charms of Rexburg. Here is a fun picture of me eating ice cream.
Since most of our trip ended up being driving we decided to take Colter out on the Rexburg sand dunes one morning. It was cool. Colter got very car sick. Still we had a good time.
My sister-in-law, Shellie, came up from Pocatello with her youngest, Gabe, to spend the afternoon with us. We got lunch and took the boys to a water park in Rexburg. It was so lovely to catch up with Shellie and feel supported and loved by her visit. Wyatt is going through a hard thing and I deeply appreciate the support of family and friends.
After a whirlwind weekend I felt strongly that one of us should stay in Rexburg to be able to visit Wyatt when we could. We drove back down to Preston to visit with Judy and Emma. We took Emma grocery shopping and talked with her about what she was planning for when Wyatt got out of the hospital. I convinced Will to take Wyatt's car back up to Rexburg and stay the week. Will agreed and Colter and I drove back down to Salt Lake to fly home. It was another wild trip and I am sick of traveling now.
Will stayed the week close to Wyatt and the following Friday, Wyatt was released from the hospital. Will was able to bring him back down to Preston and make sure he and Emma were comfortable. We are trying to help them get into an apartment in Logan soon.
We got some fun pictures of Adell from swim team. Adell also decided to do fall swim and be a junior coach for the team. She is becoming quite the awesome swimmer!
Lorien continues to thrive in San Diego. She sent me this picture to tell me her under cut had finally grown out to be her bang length.
I got this picture from Emma from when Wyatt got home from the hospital. Reunited! They still have a bit of an uphill climb but it sounds like Wyatt is getting the medical help he needs in Preston and the move to Logan will be good for both of them. Here's to parenthood and grandparenthood.
