No nuts were cracked in this blog post...

Hazel is in the Nutcracker!  Cute Hazel has been practicing and preparing since September!  She has three parts, a mouse, a lamb, and a cherub.  We got our tickets to see her in the matinee this afternoon.  Heather has been telling us how much work Hazel has had to put into these practices, however, Hazel has loved every second of it!

She was darling and we loved getting to get a few pictures with her before the show.  Way to go Hazel girl!

After Hazel's show, we went out to eat with Aunt Betty Jo and Uncle John.  It is so nice to have family living nearby.

Alan and Heather told us about Hazel's first performance of the Nutcracker the night before.  She was a warrior mouse and a few of the toy soldiers shot a cannon at her.  She has to throw her arms out and fall backward into the arms of two more mice waiting behind her.  Apparently, they were rushed to get to the stage.  Hazel ran out for her part but her two mice actors missed their cue.  Hazel, the professional, made the cue and fell backward right after the cannon shot.  Alan and Heather had been working with Hazel to make sure she fell straight and it looked believable.  So Hazel did as she had practiced...and fell straight onto the stage.  Alan and Heather said the whole theater gasped and went silent.  The missing mice ran over to Hazel and dragged her off the stage.  Thankfully, the costume and full head mask has a lot of padding.  Hazel was unhurt and unphased.  Hazel performed her part perfectly every night.  She is amazing!
