What a graduation season! This year we had a fifth grader get promoted out of elementary school (our very last Greenbrook graduate!), an eighth grader promoted out of middle school, and a senior in high school moving on up and out into the world!
We knew May was going to be a busy one and it was but it was also so full of love, pride, and excitement.
First up: Clare got to walk the halls of Greenbrook Elementary. This is a darling (and truly my favorite) tradition in our area. I remember when Lorien did it, I was sad that Wyatt did not come back from Idaho just to do this tradition (and graduation) so it was extra special to have Clare walk the halls for Colter. Clare is the last kid who gets to have a sibling at Greenbrook while she walks the halls.
I truly love this tradition and it was the only thing I cried over in the whole week of graduating hubbub. One other fun thing, Clare was a teen chaperone for outdoor ed this year (and last year) and all of the 5th grade girls LOVED her. When she came to walk the halls all of the girls from Colter's class wanted Clare to sign their yearbook because they loved her so. It was super sweet!
If you want to walk down memory lane and see a post about Clare's very first day of school at Greenbrook Elementary you can check this post out. No joke, I got emotional reading over it, remembering that day, and thinking of how far Clare has come to be graduating this week!
I cannot seem to make blogger work anymore? What is up with the underline? I don't know but it I stop to figure it out I will never get the blog updated AND it is actually November 2024 and I haven't updated the blog since January! On ward!Colter was promoted on the same day as Adell. We started the morning over at the elementary school, cheering our very last 5th grader on as he was promoted out of elementary and onto middle school!
That evening (when it was literally one hundred and six degrees) we sat in the bleachers of the high school football field and watched the graduation of our middle schoolers. It was pretty insufferable in the heat but boy, oh boy were we ever proud of our Adell Becci. Did I mention Adell sewed her own promotion dress? Well she did and that was extra awesome!
And finally, the graduate! Clare graduated (not promotion) from high school! She has had the best Senior year ever. She has good friends, a darling boyfriend, and her plans for college came together without a hitch. It's really been the best Senior year for Clare Sara. And like, Adell, boy oh boy, are we proud of Clare. She got great grades that earned her an extra scholarship for college and is so excited to attend Northern Arizona University in the fall!
Poor little Oliver got baked at Adell's promotion the night before and then at Clare's graduation (where there weren't nearly enough chairs set up!?!) Oliver got spooked when we all screamed and cheered for Clare when her name was announced. Poor baby. Oliver was a great sport for all of the family events. It has been lovely having Wyatt and Oliver home for the week.
