With me finishing up life coach training, I felt like the kids didn't get much summer. So the week before school started we crammed a whole summer's worth of fun in.
Day one, we checked out our local sights. We ate at a new Mexican place in town. We got ice cream and went to the library.
Next up was a day at Six Flags. It was hot and fun. We had to wear masks inside places but we were outside nearly the whole time.
Finally, we drove up to Fort Bragg to see Glass Beach again. It was amazing! The drive wasn't as bad as I remembered. No one got super carsick.
Fort Bragg was still having Covid restrictions so we had to eat outside but the pizza was yummy and worth the chilly wait!
Our motel was right across the street from McDonalds which is so perfect for our family!
The town fenced off all of the old access points we used to find other beaches with sea glass. So we had to go to the sanctioned Glass Beach. It was still amazing to explore.
We found one regular beach to play in the sand and surf. Colter and Adell septs finding and saving baby jelly fish!
Wyatt dug a deep hole...his favorite activity at the beach.
A big jelly fish also washed up on shore.
We made one trip back to Glass Beach proper before driving home.
The last time we came up to Fort Bragg we didn't know about this bit of history. The residents threw their trash over the sea cliffs into the ocean. When the trash got too high, they would try and burn it down. As a result there is this and made reef of melted garbage. It is discouraging and disgusting to see.
Fires are raging again in California. Mercifully, the wind is blowing east and taking all the smoke to Idaho and Utah. Our air is a little smoky some days but mostly we are being spared.
The fire burning is the largest in California history it will burn over a million acres this summer. (I am tying this later in the fall so I know...)
Adell helped at the Bishop's Storehouse.
And I took Colter to Rockin' Jump.
We did all the summer things. I am an amazing mom.
